This useful and beautiful biennial re-seeds on its own and can be invasive, though its tendency to pioneer on disturbed ground with poor soil can make it a welcome interloper. Basal rosette of large downy leaves the first year – “cowboy toilet paper” – makes way for a 2nd year flowering stalk that can reach 7 feet. Yellow flowers attract pollinators all summer. Many traditional medicinal uses include a smoking mixture of leaves for lungs and an oil infusion of flowers for earache.

Dang. I couldn't get them to sprout. Maybe my fault or could've been the seeds themselves. I tossed the rest of them into my garden so maybe they'll come up one day.
