NEW for 2024!
This easy-to-grow ornamental millet was a happy accidental off-shoot of a grain-millet breeding program at the University of Nebraska. Long strappy leaves and multiple deep purple cattail-like flower stalks stand 3-5 feet tall. Dramatic as a garden presence and as a long-lasting addition to floral arrangements.
Young leaves start out green, but turn deep purple when grown in full-day sun. Full sun is the key -- half a day won't do it. Heat tolerant too.
Though 'Purple Majesty' is fabulous in the garden and in the vase, it doesn't set enough seed to recommend it for grain production. Seed IS edible, of course, and small birds love it.
Approx. 50 seeds per packet
Latin name: Pennisetum glaucum
Grown in Potter Valley, Mendocino County, California
Certified Organic by CCOF
Open-pollinated, non-GMO

My purple majesty millet is not purple. It was grown in the sun. It has been in 6+ hours of sun day. Kept waiting for it to turn. Too late to start any new seeds for fall decor.
